About this piece

78" solid brass Krishna — large peacock-feather crown halo, decorated dhoti with turquoise and red inlay, trailing patterned sash on left, square stepped pedestal. Hand-cast in Moradabad, the brass-craft capital of India, by artisans whose families have been working in metal for generations.

About this deity

Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu, is the cowherd-prince of Vrindavan and the divine charioteer of the Bhagavad Gita. He stands in tribhanga — three bends of the body — playing the bansuri flute, drawing the soul home with sound. Krishna represents divine love, joy, and the lila of life itself.

Craft notes

Decorative stone inlay — turquoise, coral, lapis, or coloured glass — is set into the brass body by hand. Each inlay piece is cut and seated individually; no two pieces are exactly alike. The piece is solid brass throughout — there is no plating, no hollow shell. Slight variations in finish, dimension, and weight are inherent to the handmade process and are part of the character of each piece.

Care & placement

A versatile piece — works in a pooja room, an entryway, or as a tabletop accent. Polish occasionally to maintain finish.
