About this piece
14" solid brass Nandi — extensive green/red enamel and stone work on saddle and body, red beaded necklace, dome bolster covered in red stonework, painted/enameled body sides in green. Hand-cast in Moradabad, the brass-craft capital of India, by artisans whose families have been working in metal for generations.
About this deity
Nandi — the white bull, gatekeeper of Kailash, and steadfast vahana of Shiva — sits in eternal devotion at the entrance to every Shiva temple. He represents unwavering loyalty, strength, and the patient, kneeling stance of the true devotee. A Nandi facing the Shivling completes the threshold of any Shaivite home shrine.

Craft notes
Hand-painted enamel work in the meenakari tradition — each colour band laid into engraved channels, fired, and polished. The craft is centuries old; the technique cannot be machined. The piece is solid brass throughout — there is no plating, no hollow shell. Slight variations in finish, dimension, and weight are inherent to the handmade process and are part of the character of each piece.
Care & placement
A statement piece for a console, a bookshelf, or a pair on either side of a doorway. Dust with a soft cloth; polish occasionally.
