About this deity

Goddess Durga rides her lion into the world to vanquish what cannot be defeated by force alone. Mahishasura Mardini — slayer of the buffalo demon — she carries the weapons of every god in her many arms. Durga is the mother who protects, and the warrior who acts when action is required.

Decorative stone inlay — turquoise, coral, lapis, or coloured glass — is set into the brass body by hand. Each inlay piece is cut and seated individually; no two pieces are exactly alike. The piece is solid brass throughout — there is no plating, no hollow shell. Slight variations in finish, dimension, and weight are inherent to the handmade process and are part of the character of each piece.
